I go to Europe for a full six weeks! I wrote a full trip blog about it with lots of photos Click here
I've started working part time as a Spanish interpreter for local clinics for fun and to supplement my meager income as a coin photographer. It's my first winter in Washington state and in the Olympia area there is disappointingly little snow. Up on the mountains though it's a different story!
I made my first visit to Asia, just a long weekender to Thailand with my Dad. Great food, great experience, horrible jet lag!
It's becoming a tradition that I spend summers now in Puerto Rico with my son Eric. Spent a great month with frequent trips to the beach, sightseeing and relaxing!
May 2007
I now live in Olympia, Washington. I moved here in March to be closer to the kids since that's where their Mom chose to live. Things are going very well. They've both adapted here and I'm almost almost used to the 24/7 rain. That's not fair, lately I've been seeing more of the sun :-)
I spend more time than ever researching and writing for my next coin book, a followup of my first and in between I do my best to manage my company (also on coins!). But life is not all about being a coin geek, I tell myself, so I make free time for myself to go out with the kids, bike a little (yeah still!) and stay in touch with friends from all over.
I plan on traveling again this year but not sure just yet.
February 2007
I don't much care for Washington, DC. It's expensive, a lot of crime and everything is hard to get to. But I met this guy Eleonel, a friend of my cousin's and who swears he met me like ten years ago (don't remember) when I lived in Miami. He's a world-class violinist and has become one of my best friends.
Other than that I'd forgotten how much I loved the single life ;-)
Rest of 2006
Bike trip over. I made it as far as Wyoming before giving up due to cold and lack of money. In other words, for being a dumbass and not planning things better! But am I bitter? Nope... I'm proud for making it as far as I did - though less so that it didn't turn me into the exercise-a-holic I had secretly hope for.
Spent the rest of the year traveling until November when I settled in Washington, DC, temporarily to save a little money and work on my next book.
March 2006
I am on the eve of starting one of my biggest personal projects to date. In a couple of days I will leave for Key West, Fla to start riding on a bicycle out west.... as in all the way out to the west coast. If I can make it it's going to take at least a couple of months. I'm planning on adding updates here along the way.
January and February 2006
In February I traveled to Peru and in January I went to Morocco. Here are som pics and travel notes: Peru and Morocco
November and December 2005
Last December I got divorced from my wife of 8 years, mother of my two kids and still an important person in my life.
This past November I went to a coin show in Frankfurt, Germany, my first visit to the country and a place I hope to go to for a longer stay and finally learn German. I also went to a great little family trip with my parents and sister to New York and Vermont where we had a chance to check out the glass museum in Corning, NY as well as Ben & Jerry's factory in Vermont :-)
