I've loved driving ever since the first day I sat behind the wheel the first time. Commuting to and from work
can be such a bore, especially with bumper to bumper traffic, that it's hard to imagine why
I would think of driving as a hobby. Yet, I always look forward to hitting the road with anticipation... not so much
the daily commute, of course, as going across state to some far-off destination.I need to give credit to my wife for sparking much of this joy when she taught me how to drive a stick shift. That, and her unremitting love for fast german cars has made me a convert myself. Soon after we met we bought a new yellow Audi A4 which was far and away the most fun car I had had to date. In it we travelled to some 25 states in the span of a year and a half. With some nostalgia we traded it in for an Audi TT which has been another few notches up in the fun department. My wife went with a BMW 328i convertible which is also a dream to drive. Neither of these is practical in the least considering we have Eric to tote around and we're aware of the fact that for us "practical" takes a backseat to sheer fahrvegnugen.
And to absolutely quell any remnant consideration for practicality or affordability I'm now on a waiting list for a customized Porsche Boxster S.
I've done reviews for all these cars you can read at epinions.com. Here's some links:
